L2. Climate change adaptation in water resources management

Studies on the potential impacts of climate change on stream flows suggest a varied outlook. In the future more extreme floods are expected in some regions, while more droughts can be expected in others. And in some places more of both are forecasted. Planning for and adapting to these changes is very important if the negative impacts of them are to be reduced. The analysis of adaptation strategies to climate change is a challenging problem given the range of environmental, social and economic uncertainties involved.  In this session, papers are invited on the area of climate change adaptation research and uncertainties associated with climate change adaptation strategies that concentrate on water resource management issues. These could include papers of both a general nature and/or specific case studies in the field.
