×K5. The future of hydrometeorological forecasting: uncertainty, advances and applications

Better forecasts of weather, streamflow and other hydrometeorological variables can directly improve our responses to climate variability, management of water resources, and actions to mitigate natural disasters like flood and drought. We invite submissions on all aspects of hydrometeorological forecasting, including:

We particularly welcome submissions on the applications of probabilistic forecasts, for example to improve hydropower generation, water allocation, disaster mitigation or environmental management.

The session is organised under the auspices of HEPEX (www.hepex.org), which was launched in 2004 to foster scientific developments necessary to improve the skill of probabilistic hydrological predictions and their use in operational contexts.

Key topics: Ensemble forecasting, Prediction uncertainty, Hydrometeorology, Forecast applications
