×L1. Advances in urban water quality modelling

The numerical simulation of urban stormwater water quality and associated treatment devices is key to better managing our impact on the natural environment. Doing so has historically relied on tools and techniques that, whilst sometimes useful, are seldom process based. As urban development expands across Australia, it is imperative that we progress beyond the use of node-link lookup table style urban water quality simulation tools and move towards process based simulation of urban water quality and related treatment devices. This session focusses on sharing and discussing the development and application of numerical tools that support processed based simulation of urban water quality. Examples might include two and three dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality simulation of urban wetlands, bioretention systems or similar.
