Getting around in Darwin

The Organising Commitee has pulled together some information about transport options for getting around in Darwin, this might help particularly if you are staying more than walking distance away from the Darwin Convention Centre.

Car hire

We recommend JJ's car hire, 7 Goyder Road, Parap. We recommend booking early to avoid missing out.

• Weekly rate $90 per day including insurance – excess is $1000; no option to reduce
• If shorter, then $110-120 per day
• No bond
• Airport transfers if in business hours
• Mostly Toyota Camry auto
• 25y +

Car pooling

If people have access to a car they might like to help out other MODSIM2023 attendees with transport.

We have a Car roster system set up, register yourself as someone with a car, or someone who would like a lift!

e-scooters and e-bikes

Darwin has e-scooters and e-bikes available for hire through the Neuron app, they cannot be booked ahead. Note the range of e-scooters does not extend far beyond the Darwin CBD.

Public buses

Public buses operate 7 days a week and run from the Darwin, Casuarina and Palmerston bus interchanges.
